Call for SAMT 2009 Industry Day Speaking Proposals

Semantic and Digital Media Technologies are unleashing new opportunities in the management and distribution of multimedia content in industrial contexts. However, though the level and quality of academic research in this area has been constantly increasing in recent years, the full potential of these technologies is not completely exploited in the market.

To better understand relevant trends, experiences and roadmaps, we seek for provoking ideas coming both from industrial experts and technology vendors which contribute to demonstrate that semantic and media technologies are the next unrenounceable "big thing" in the media industry. In addition we solicit practioners (users of digital media technologies and archives) to present a challenge for the SAMT community based on their experience with current technology.
Prospective speakers are encouraged to submit a one-page document synthesising a speaking proposal for the Industry Day. The document will be carefully evaluated by organisers for relevance, impact and novelty, and selected speakers will be invited to present an extended speech during the Industry Day.
